Bob Dylan - Walls of Red Wing (NEWLY DISCOVERED LIVE DEBUT) [Gerde's Folk City - 1962]
Even though incomplete and a 3/10 in terms of sonic quality, it is extremely rare that an unheard tape from this era surfaces. To my knowledge, the first mention of this tape existing was in March of 2021, when it was added to Olaf's files. It was recorded sometime in December 1962 by an unidentified taper, most likely at Gerde's Folk City. Not much more than that is known. The full tape is only 5 minutes long, and includes "Ramblin' Down Thru The World" and "Freight Train Blues". I will upload the rest in the coming days. I decided to showcase this particular track first since it is one of Dylan's great early works, and according to Dylan's website, he only performed this piece on three other occasions. Enjoy.
Peace & Love,
~SP

Bob Dylan - Ballad of a Thin Man (Live in Chicago 1974)
Here's one of the best renditions of "Ballad of a Thin Man" from the legendary 1974 tour. This was recorded at the Chicago Stadium on 4 January 1974, the second night of the tour. Dylan hadn't been on the road since 1966, but he came back full swing. Nearly every night of the tour was sold out before it began; Promoter Bill Graham estimated the gross revenue to be almost $100 million. This venu...

Here's a little snippet of the fever dream that was the 1966 World Tour. Dylan did not have many spoken introductions for his songs, but when he did, he went all out. This was recorded at L'Olympia in Paris, France on May 24, 1966, also Dylan's 25th birthday. The Band, then knows as The Hawks, are in fine form on this track. To all my subscribers, I'm sorry I haven't been posting as frequently....

Photo by Charles Steiner ©1966. Many thanks to this legendary photographer for graciously allowing me to use his photo for the cover art. Find his work at www.charliesteiner.com/. Here is one of the many gems in Dylan's treasure trove of unreleased, unfinished, unpolished, but nonetheless immaculate creations. There's something about this recording that makes me feel like I'm melting. Some back...

Once again, thank you to Stereo Masters (ua-cam.com/users/stereomasters) for restoring this relic. This was recorded on February 1, 1964, at CBC TV Studios in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, for the show "Quest". This episode is a 30-minute exhibit of Dylan's music (the rest of which I will be uploading gradually) and was also the show's final episode. Subsequently, the producer of "Quest", Daryl Duk...

I promised to upload the entire version of this show, but unfortunately, copyright makes that a complicated task, so I'll be uploading it in pieces. It's been very difficult finding tracks that aren't blocked by copyright. This is a recent occurrence, which leads me to believe that Universal Studios has begun to crack down on unauthorized Dylan recordings. Still, with your support, I'll do my b...

I took a short hiatus while working on some personal projects, but I'm back for the time being. I was looking through my phone the other night and came across some interesting clips from my first Dylan concert (and hopefully not my last). I couldn't record for more than 30-seconds because I was trying not to distract the band, and I believe that you have a more meaningful experience at a concer...

Here's a beautiful version of what is in my opinion one of Dylan's most underrated and quotable pieces. This was recorded on February 1, 1964, at CBC TV Studios in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, for the show "Quest". I've been very busy with school lately so I haven't been able to work on any "Swingin'" projects, but I thought I'd upload this weird clip just for kicks. Although this is a short and seemingly meaningless little video, it has some historical significance in that it was taken on Dylan's flight from Seattle to London on April 26, 1965, kicking off his legendary England Tour, which was documented...

This was recorded on March 27, 1965, by an audience member with a very expensive tape recorder; although still a bit rough, the quality of this bootleg is superior to most audience recordings from this period. It's fantastic to be able to hear exactly what was coming out of the auditorium speakers, the very sound waves that met the ears of the audience nearly 56 years ago... Not sure about you ...

I uploaded this entire show to my channel a couple years back, but the quality was barely listable. Since then, I found a new version of the tape, which I will be uploading in full soon. Here is a sneak peek. Even though the quality isn't great, compared to other audience recordings during this period, it's immaculate. The person who recorded this must have spent several hundred dollars on this...

As promised, here is the complete "Minnesota Party Tape 1961", a mysterious bootleg with a colorful history. It shouldn't be confused with the "Minnesota Hotel Tape" (also recorded at Beecher's home but several months later) or the "Minnesota University Tape" (recorded a year earlier). However, these tapes go by many different names, so I recommend you look over Olof's files if you're intereste...

I was surprised to find that this gem wasn't already on UA-cam. Here it is. Below is an amazing backstory told by Jaharana Romney (wife of Hugh Romney/Wavy Gravy), formerly Bonnie Beecher, the subject of this song. The last picture is of her and Wavy. This one of the top 5 Rolling Thunder Concerts I've heard. Unfortunately, it is an audience tape so the quality isn't as high as a soundboard recording would be. There is currently no soundboard recording known to exist of this show. When I teach about Dylan, I use this song to demonstrate his ability to perfectly and organically match lyrics to the melody, tempo, meter of the music. You might try this. I ask how many students have ever heard "To Ramona." I then select one at random from among those who have never heard the song. I hand them a slip of paper (or use a whiteboard) containing the opening two lines. I then ask the person to recite the words aloud while slapping a beat on the table. I ask him/her to repeat it a few times and then try to sing it. Invariably, the student winds up singing the words to the actual melody - as if that's the only way they could possibly be sung. Which is, in fact, the case and is the point of the exercise.

I don't know what it is about Ms Rivera but she seems to hit everything I have inside me that says "This is Woman" The skill, the timing, the tune, the look and more. Bob Dylan writes brilliantly and hires just as well. If I cannot be 40 years older, I can at least be appreciative of youtube and those who share these gems.

This is garbage music. Bro can't sing to save his life. He plays basic chords like every average casual beach hippie. No charisma, dead stare and this is a "star". Classical talentless hack while session payed musicians beautifing the basic song progressions. America's fascination with Jewish frauds pushed by the "entertainment" industry never seizes to amaze me. Simple rhymes and ofc people applaud him for "fighting for racial injustice" in America while people with more talent in their little fingers have to work day jobs because no recording stuido would pick them up, because its important who you know and not how good you are. "Oh Bob Dylan is great, he's awesome" - clapping hands while they have no idea why.
